Storage Tips

A 10×10 storage unit is the size of half of a standard one-car garage. It fits the contents of an entire family room or two full bedrooms, including several small to medium-sized boxes.

A 10×24 storage unit is a little larger than a one-car garage.

It fits the contents of a fully furnished 3 bedroom house, including oversized items such as a couch, mattress sets, a dresser, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer, a dining room set, an entertainment center and several large boxes.

  • Use quality boxes to avoid boxes breaking
  • Label all boxes on top and at least one side
  • Cover furniture and other large unpacked items with a sheet to limit dust and damage
  • Leave an aisle for easy access to items in back of unit
  • Place items you are going to need access to the most in the front of your unit
  • Add shelving to maximize your space
  • Make sure all items are clean and dry to prevent mold
  • Do not store flammable or perishable items
  • Periodically sweep out your unit
  • Stack heavier boxes on the bottom
  • Store large items vertically to maximize space
  • Place blankets between surfaces to avoid scratches
  • Make an inventory of your items
